Your new orchard and pollinator garden look like a slice of paradise. It’s truly inspiring to see how this once-barren hillside has become a thriving, vibrant space full of life and beauty.

Hi Arek, thank you so much for your support and we are so glad you enjoy the site! Thanks for sharing about Trees of Antiquity, the name definitely rings a bell but we didn’t know they were so close in Paso Robles. It sounds like you have a nice and bountiful 1/4 acre property to work with and fitting in as many fruit trees and berries as you can sounds like you are making good use of it! Thanks again and have fun growing!

Thank you for sharing. I come back to your website often for inspiration and practical tips.

Also being on the central coast of CA, have you heard of Trees of Antiquity (treesofantiquity.com)? I only found out about them in the appendix of The Holistic Orchard and was excited to find out they’re nearby, just north of Paso. They have the best selection of heirloom fruit trees (and berries/vines) I’ve come across. I’ve bought many for our 1/4 acre property using Dave Wilson Nursery’s backyard orchard culture method to keep them small.

Hi Cara, thank you so much for the kind words and we appreciate your support! I guess the CA poppies may end up getting a little crazy but we will have to see how they come back next year, we are hoping they spread throughout other areas of our property that are more open and we were slightly surprised how vigorous the poppy plants were. Time will tell and we will keep you posted, haha, thanks again.

And a treasure trove of information and how-tos (is that a word?). Love, love, love your garden tours and I watch them over and over for inspiration, information and strenght!!

My question is this: Are you guys at all worried about the CA Poppies taking over? In my ‘hood (Pasadena, zone 10A) these beauties are basically invasive and have popped up (pun intended) in extended arcs throughout the surrounding deeply mulched areas. I guess deadheading them might be a solution, but that’s a lot of work. What’d ya think?

Keep rockin’! (And sorry/sad to hear about Dahlia. RIP sweet girl.)

Hi Bette Anne, thank you so so much for the kind words, we definitely did get a massage after it was all said and done! While this was done on a larger scale than what most people would be working with, it is attainable for anyone to accomplish, it just takes a bit of hard work and dedication. Our previous property was a smaller lot in the middle of a beach town and we were able to transform every inch of our yard space with veggie garden, pollinator plants, and fruit trees. We are so glad you enjoyed the transformation and thank you so much for the support!
